Bruce Lee

Another revolutionizer of fitness, Bruce Lee was a superb role model for a healthy and fit lifestyle. Unfortunately, he died before his time from causes out of his control. During his short time on earth, he was able to develop an incredible body that was capable of extraordinary feats. I’ve read articles and books on Bruce Lee, and it is always captivating to learn about this man.

As you probably know, Bruce Lee was a martial artist. He was first taught by one of the best martial artists ever, Yip Man. Unlike many martial artists, Bruce Lee developed a near obsession with health and fitness. He utilized as many types of exercise that he could. Today we hear a lot about the best type of exercise, but Bruce Lee was always searching for more. He made sure to balance his workouts with weight lifting, body weight exercises, jump rope, heavy bag, a stationary bike, and running. He didn’t limit himself to one modality.

I actually see a lot of that in other people’s work such as Ross Enamait. Bruce Lee knew that to be the best martial artist he would need to supplement his art with the right type of physical training. While he drew some inspiration from bodybuilders, he was always aware that they had an end goal much different from his own. He had no use for big, bulky muscles. He needed lean and functional muscle, and that’s what he got. www.brucelee.com
