Home Workouts without Weights

It can be daunting to figure out what combination of body weight exercises are the best to use in your workout. The truth is most of them work together great, you just need to stick to one routine long enough to make a difference. And you need to know when to change things up. There are many ways to get a great workout without using weights. Some things that you can use are exercise resistance bands, jumping ropes, and a pull-up bar.

Those three things are very valuable pieces of equipment, but even they aren't necessary. All you need to do to get a great home workout is your own body. A pull-up bar is one piece of equipment that I highly recommend, but there are alternatives. One of these alternatives is to get an old sturdy broomstick and put it across two chairs. Then get underneath the bar and pull yourself up while bending your knees. This is called an inverted row, and it will feel like the opposite of a bench press exercise. Just make sure the chairs and broomstick are set strong and safely. You can also find other places to do pull-ups such as a tree branch.

The most important part of an effective home workout without weights is creating balance. Many people will focus on upper body pushing exercises like pushups, and do little else for the rest of their body. Another common exercise to include is an abdominal exercise. These types of exercises are very important, but they alone will not provide you with the body that you want. And these exercises alone will create an imbalance in your health and fitness.

Include resistance training exercises for upper body and lower body pushing and pulling exercises. The right kind of lower body pulling exercises will strengthen the lower back but there are other exercises that you can use in addition. Also include abdominal exercises, and don't forget to include cardiovascular training as well. For some exercises to do, check out the List of Exercises category.
