KFC Nutrition

The selection available at Kentucky Fried Chicken is varied enough that you can find something to eat that is healthy and tasty. Grilled chicken is always a better choice than the others, especially for those looking to lose weight.

Two things to keep in mind are that chicken breasts have more fat than wings and wings have more fat than thighs. But if you take the breading off of the breast the amount of fat is reduced from 21 to 3.5 grams of fat. Popcorn chicken has between 260 and 560 calories, and between 17 and 37 grams of fat. The chicken wings are low in calories and fat which makes them good for dieting. They also have 4 grams of protein which is good for losing or gaining weight. The different sides offered at KFC can also be part of a balanced meal.

A great meal for gaining weight is one chicken breast with breading, one 3 inch corn, one serving of mashed potatoes and gravy, and one biscuit. That would add up to 730 calories, 33.5 grams of fat, 69 grams of carbohydrates, 4 grams of fiber and 42 grams of protein. And that is without butter. Remember that each of their packets of butter spread contains 30 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, 0 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, and 0 grams of protein. Now that meal is a little high on the fatty side, so the best way to adjust would be to get a skinless chicken breast, and add a serving of baked beans. That would not only get rid of a lot of the fat, it would also add carbohydrates and protein that are probably needed.
