Banana Nutrition

It amazes me how many different health benefits can be found from every single fruit and vegetable. The Banana is a great example of an affordable fruit packed with a lot of great nutrients. One of these excellent nutrients is the mineral, Potassium. Potassium is essential to the proper function of the nerves, digestive system, muscles, heart and kidneys.

The Ultimate Immune System Booster

Banana nutrition also consists of Vitamin C which is one of the key players in the overall health of our immune system. In fact, I have a story that explains just how important Vitamin C really is. Many years ago a lot of sailors were plagued with the disease known as scurvy. Millions of them died and many more were unfit to work on the ships.

Eventually it was discovered that Vitamin C was able to reverse the effects of the horrible disease. They found that out by using herbal teas that contained Vitamin C as well as consuming fruit and fruit juices. And that’s just one example of one nutrient found in the fantastic fruit that you and I call a Banana.

In addition to Potassium and Vitamin C, Bananas also have a fair amount of fiber. Not a lot but enough to assist in digestive health. Two benefits of fiber are that it assists in a healthy metabolism, and it creates a natural feeling of fullness so that we don’t over eat. Now I realize that Bananas aren’t for everyone.

Some people may be allergic, and others are just absolutely repulsed by Bananas. But if you like the taste of Bananas and you’re not allergic, then they are definitely worth eating. If I haven’t convinced you by now then just look at monkeys. Those creatures are amazingly strong and have boundless energy, and they eat Bananas all the time.
