Going Back to the Gym

That’s right. Recently I have gone back to the gym to workout. You may be wondering why I would go to the gym when I’m always talking about how great home workouts are. The fact is, I am one of those weirdos that loves to workout. I love all different types of workouts and workout modalities. I like to use bands, weights, bodyweight exercises, sometimes swimming and rock climbing, I even like machines. And while I don’t think it is necessary to go to the gym to be healthy and fit, I want to, and that is why I go.

Some people are just gym rats. And some people need the gym to motivate them to workout, and that’s fine. It’s important to use whatever works for us as individuals. I know that I don’t need the gym to motivate me to work out. I’ve worked out for years, by myself, at my house, alone. Having said that, it’s nice to have a sense of camaraderie at the gym. Especially since one of my good friends is my workout partner. We help to motivate and challenge one another to better levels of strength and vitality.

This website has been and still is, a site for people to come to if they want workouts that they can do at home, but I’m not going to exclude things that have to do with working out in general. I’m not one of those guys that says working out at home is the only option if you want to get fit. Because it’s not. It is one option. I still believe that you can get everything you need out of a workout from home as far as tangible results go. However a gym can offer a sense of community as well as some equipment that may make your workouts more fun and exciting.

Another great thing for me going to the gym is that I have the option of applying to be a trainer there and train others for a living. I want to help those that workout at home and those that workout at the gym, because my goal is to help others get fit not to convince them that they have to workout at home. The best part is that if I’m ever on vacation without a gym, I can just use the home workouts that I’ve developed for this website, and be just fine.

I guess the point of this article is to say that we should always be looking what we want out of a workout. If rock climbing is your favorite type of workout then I would focus on that if I were you. I would do shorter or less frequent workouts at home, and then go rock climbing more often. Or maybe you like the gym and rock climbing and can afford to do both. If you like swimming, you can go to the gym and include that in your workouts too. Find out what physical activities you like to do, and build your workouts around that.
